On Saturday, June 7, 2025, I welcomed 22 guests to the sold-out Regulate and Restore Micro Retreat, co-hosted with Jennifer Pinkerton. The focus of the day was simple : understand the causes of stress and learn tools to regulate it.
What We Explored
The day was structured into several focused segments:
✨ Understanding Emotional Regulation
Jennifer Pinkerton opened the retreat with a powerful session on how we respond to trauma and actionable techniques for nervous system regulation. Her insights helped lay the emotional and cognitive foundation for the rest of the experience.
🧠 Mindful Movement
Led by Justin Singer and Marilu Settimelli, the movement session invited participants to experience exercise as a form of intentional self-regulation. This wasn’t just a workout—it was a deep dive into mind-body connection. Participants were encouraged to become aware of their muscles, movement patterns, and breath, using these elements to cultivate presence and internal calm.
❄️ Cold Plunge Integration
After movement, we introduced cold plunges—a powerful somatic tool known to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and improve stress response. For many, this was a highlight, pushing physical limits while building resilience.
🌊 Floating Sound Bath
As the sun softened and the day moved into stillness, guests were guided into a floating sound bath experience, performed by Farida. Surrounded by water, nature, and harmonic sound bowls, participants drifted into deep relaxation—literally and figuratively.
🥂 Celebration & Connection
We wrapped up with a champagne toast (w/ sparkling cider option for those who prefer a non-alcoholic option) and charcuterie board lite bites. It was the perfect close to a day of learning, connection, and nervous system reset.
